Cannabidiol (CBD) continues to dominate the headlines due to its abilities to minimize the pain and discomfort of many disorders and problems such as epilepsy, anxiety, sleep disorders, and even brain tumors. According to Oxford Academic, CBD and THC combined to reduce brain tumors by around 50-95 percent, with some cases resulting in complete and successful removal.

In a double-blind study featuring CBD-dosed Epidiolex and its potential in treating a variety of seizures stemming from epilepsies, 61 in the experiment group were dosed with CBD oil while the other 59 were part of the placebo group. The results were a resounding success: monthly seizures in the experimental group decreased by 39 percent.

Many companies are exploring the medical aspects of the “miracle” compound. PotNetwork Holdings, Inc.’s (OTCMKTS:POTN) is a holdings company that promotes the healthy benefits that CBD provides through their lineup of edibles, vapes, gummies, and others. Through its subsidiary Diamond CBD Inc., POTN is dedicated to providing high-quality CBD that is aimed directly towards helping people deal with their pain and suffering—promoting its abilities to affect the endocannabinoid system that regulates so many of our vital functions.

Hemp Benefits the Elderly

Cannabis could serve as an ideal remedy for nausea and lack of appetite—symptoms that are also common in many elderly senior citizens who are exposed to the effects of radiation or chemotherapy.

Tikun Olam, a key medicinal cannabis distributor, performed a test to try to find a connection between CBD use and improving the health of the elderly. Featuring an experimental group of 2736 patients that were all over the age of 65, 66 percent suffered from pain and 60.8 percent suffered from cancer, which was the two most common ailments reported among the group.

Following six months of medicinal cannabis treatment, 93.7 percent reported that their conditions had shown improvements and overall pain level dropped drastically—from a reported eight down to four, on a scale of 0-10. Meanwhile, 18.1 percent cut down on opioid use or stopped using them altogether.

Counted among the biggest distributors of medicinal cannabis, Tikun Olam is one of the leading forces behind the emergence of medicinal cannabis. Through extensive research and testing, they are able to manufacture optimized cannabis that is capable of treating and providing relief from a variety of disorders. They are typically acknowledged as one of the giants that pushed for the legalization of medicinal cannabis in the US.

Putting the Pills Away

In another study done by Tikun Olam on the effects of CBD on the frequency of prescription pills taken, participants ingested about 1.4 grams of cannabis, through smoking or vaping, which led to a large reduction in pill intake. Before treatment, patients were taking 2.8 pills on average, but this number plummeted to 0.7 after the start of cannabis-induced treatment. Chronic pain was reduced throughout, and just about every single patient reported improved sleeping and eating habits.

Prior to treatment, 428 people reported not taking any pills at all at any time. Upon completion of treatment via cannabis, that number skyrocketed to 1095 alongside significant reductions for other patients .

Clearly, CBD was having a positive effect on promoting wellbeing and getting people to put the pills away. The fact that those pills can be dangerous and addictive, ranging from opioids to narcotics, serves as yet another benefit to promote a healthy and natural recovery.

Minimizing Social Anxiety and Fear

Brazil university researchers conducted testing on sufferers of Social Anxiety Disorder to gauge the calming effects of CBD. Social Anxiety Disorder can be crippling, as it causes sufferers to exhibit an extreme fear of social speaking and being judged publicly, affecting nearly 15 million Americans. In serious cases, it can completely disrupt a normal life, as sufferers completely avoid any social or interpersonal relationships.

Glossophobia or the fear of speaking, and the fact that it is the #1 fear probably isn’t all that surprising:

  • 75 percent of people suffer from speech anxiety
  • accounts for 19 percent of total phobias around the world, with fear of death coming in at the #2 phobia which accounts for 16 percent
  • 3 million Americans have a social phobia
  • 2 million Americans have a fear of crowded public places

The study showed lower rates of anxiety in the experiment group, while the placebo group exhibited higher anxiety and stress-related from public speaking. CBD is known for its soothing properties that have been correlated to reduced anxiety levels.

Regulating Blood Pressure

An experiment was conducted on nine volunteers to test CBD’s effects on blood pressure. With the assistance of a finometer and laser Doppler, 600mg of CBD were administered in a double-blind test. A general decrease of about 6 mm HG occurred during testing.

In conclusion: “This data shows that acute administration of CBD reduces resting BP and the BP increase to stress in humans, associated with increased HR.”

As hypertension can have serious consequences, CBD could provide the all-important role of regulating blood pressure to promote overall health. Though the impact of CBD is becoming well documented, many are wondering if we’ve only begun scraping at the tip of the iceberg.
